American Idol Season Premiere Review

As the show began Ryan, via voice overs, was heard speaking about tonight’s show, saying that its making has taken ten solid years. Also clips of home videos done by the competitors were shown. In the video, the competitors were seen as small kids singing along with Kelly Clarkson in the first season. Ryan also stated that a number of the participants had waited so long for this, with some waiting for as long as fifteen years.

The “Competitor Cam” is a new addition this year. Some of the competitors received little camcorders with which to record their travels to auditions. Viewers also got to see a nice image of a vehicle filled with sleeping individuals moving towards Savannah.

Some of the noteworthy competitors from the Savannah grouping include the following:

Amy Brumfield. She sings well but she purposely lives inside a tent.

Schyler and Colton Dixon. These two are siblings who had their first audition previous year. The two advanced to Hollywood however they could not reach the live show stage. Once again they managed to advance to Hollywood tonight and even though they were not bad, the duo might still not reach the live show stage this time around.

Lauren Mink: she runs a day camp for adults with disability. Mink put up a good performance and she got a golden ticket from Randy and Co that will take her to Hollywood.

Phillip Phillips (Junior). He looks like someone that will go far. His performance of Superstition was awesome, but that was not all, he delivered some really good singing while playing his guitar.

On the whole, the Savannah auditions produced 42 competitions that got tickets to Hollywood. Even though the show lasted for two hours, the number of actual auditions seen by the audience was less than twenty.
