Submitted by on March 18, 2012 No Comment

On this week’s episode of American Idol, we got to see the contestants performing songs from the year they were born in. The show starts with Ryan calling the first batch of contestants, Phillip Phillips, Elise Testone, Joshua Ledet and Skylar Laine. Starting with Skylar, she knows her fate; she is safe, although they didn’t like the choice of her song. Philip and Joshua are also safe, and Elise is in the bottom three, which means they are going on tour while she finishes third. As for Demi Lovato, he was performing “Give Your Heart A Break” and he did in such a way that made us wish that all of the contestants were paying attention and taking notes.

As for the youngest contestants in the show, Jessica, Hollie and Shannon should do the same thing that Skylar did, that is separating themselves away from Mariah, Celine and Whitney, and they should start counting on their own skills and to start developing it in order to create their own character and identity. They should start going deep into their souls and figure out their identity, so they can be good performers.

Then another batch of contestants were called up to the center of the stage, the batch contained Colton Dixon, Shannon Magrane, Jessica Sanchez and DeAndre Brackensick. And it was explained that each performer comes ready with three choices of songs, and if none of them are good, the guest mentor and Jimmy chooses another songs. And that was the case with DeAndre as he didn’t do well in his three songs, so they chose Endless Love for him. As for Shannon, Jimmy said that she completely lost her rhythm as soon as he lost her breath. Although Jimmy didn’t like the choice of Colton, as he said that there has been a lot of better songs in the 1991 than the song he choose, but Colton really aced the performance, so it seems Colton is okay, but Shannon is in hot waters. And we were right, Jessica and DeAndre and Colton are on the safe side, while Shannon heads to the last three with Elise.

As for the last group of contestants to come to the stage, they were Hollie Cavanagh, HeeJun Han and Erika Van Pelt. Starting with Hollie, she aced it, and Jimmy gave her a well deserved “A”. As for Erika, Jimmy didn’t quite have anything to comment with on her performance, but he only said that she over sang the song, and she wasted a lot of time arguing with Randy on video, which was totally uncalled for. And Heejun with his comedic self was okay. So the end result, as predicted, Erika joins Elise and Shannon in the bottom three, while Hollie and Heejun advance.
