American Idol Season 11 Episode 24 Review

Submitted by on April 3, 2012 No Comment

It seems that Erika Van Pelt is going to leave the show as the judges refused to use the save to save her last week. On this week’s episode we had a very unique voice of reason for commentary by Jimmy Lovine, and we also got to see a live performance from the winner of the 10th season of American Idol, Scotty McCrery and Nicki Minaj. As for details about the show itself, we got Hollie Cavanagh, Phillip Phillips and Elise Testone come face to face with the judges. Starting with Elise, Jimmy’s opinion that she really did well to herself last night, and also stated that the fact that she is much older than the young contestants in the show actually works in her favor, as it gives her a much needed charisma, and the way that she can order and interact with the crowd is unique, and she has a way with the crowd that the other young girls can’t achieve.

Then it was Philip Phillips, Jimmy stated that Phillip is actually on the correct path to become a very big star and the judges agreed with him. As for Hollie, he said that she didn’t have the needed experience and that she doesn’t have it in her and doesn’t have the required emotions to be a super star singer. So judging from these statements, it is very clear that Hollie is the one who bites the dust, Elise and Philip are safe for now.

Then it was time for the performance of Nicki Minaj and she performed “Starships”. But Minaj’s performance didn’t sit quite well with Jennifer Lopez, as her words and body language clearly showed this. Maybe it was because of the fact that Minaj wanted to guest judge on the show, and asked J Lo to step over so she can take her place.

Then the next set of three performers to come on stage, Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han and Colton Dixon. Colton’s performance was liked by Jimmy, but he took away credit points from him because he said that it was very clear that he didn’t have control over his emotions, which made him look like an amateur and that he didn’t mature yet to be a professional superstar. Then it was Joshua’s turn, Jimmy commented on his performance and said that his performance was missing 15%, because when he lost his emotion, and it really affected his overall performance in a bad way. As for Heejun, Jimmy called him the weakest performance. The end result wasn’t that surprising, Heejun is out, and Joshua and Colton live to sing another day.

The last set of performers to appear on stage was DeAndre Brackensick, Jessica Sanchez and Skylar Laine. Jessica pulls through because Jimmy and the judges liked her performance, DeAndre is also safe, and Skylar, sadly joins the bottom three.
