‘American Idol’ Winner — Candice Glover Wins Season 12

There have been rumors about the executives planning on a total change in the judging panel. Carey, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson are the judges on the show at present. Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe will also be replaced according to sources.

The exit of Mariah Carey has however been confirmed, though her exit was rumored about in the middle of the season itself. The future of the other judges is however thought to be in balance at present.

An inside source has said that the show wants a totally new and fresh panel, but it all depended on who they chose.

The source also confirmed the exit of Mariah but did not know about the fate of the other judges.

He also elaborated that the show was considering a future reunion of Jackson with Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell in case of cancellation of The X Factor and said that this move was far, far away in the future.

The insider has also said that at present it was just a new panel for the upcoming season.

Fremantle, the production company for the show, Fox and the representatives of the judges, have not yet commented on the scheduled change.

The show started with some technical errors that led to some bad sound mixing, but the girls ploughed on with persistence and gave a professional performance.

Jimmy commented on his selecting difficult songs for the girls so that they would find it challenging. The first round went to Angie Miller. Jimmy felt let down that she did not use the piano. The tenth season runner up Lauren Aliana will sing the first song of her sophomore album, Barefoot and Buckwild. This is her first attempt in lyric writing and showed how far she has progressed since her appearance in American Idol. The song is a delight and is entirely country rock in essence. Her evolution into an artist has been great after the two seasons that has passed since her debut.

The song of the judges’ choice round went to Kree Harrison whose song had a blend of hometown journey and good rendition. Jimmy decided that the round was hers.

Mariah came out with the song Beautiful with Miguel and she looks ravishing even after delivering twins. She said that the main objective of the video was the exact opposite of her appearance as judge. Miguel outshines her in the video and Mariah’s constant twirling and hugging was a bit annoying. The song is however pleasing.

Alicia took to the piano, singing Tears Always Win. The song appears different than her earlier singles. And she knows how to attract the audience to her performance. Angie would do better to learn from her.

In the Producer’s round, Jimmy thought that Angie’s song was safe and too new to bring out her skills. He wanted a perfect attitude as far as Kree Harrison is concerned and said that she had done a good performance with Better Dig Two. Somewhere of Candice Glover enthralled everyone and Jimmy said that if she was sent back, he would go too.

The first performer to take the stage in Nokia Theatre is Candice Glover. She is shocked when she hears this. She is so overwrought that she goes round the stage and she is given a standing ovation by all the four judges present. Kree Harrison will be joining Candice Glover in the finale that will take place next week.

Angie Miller is the one who is eliminated in this round. She looks shocked in the live feed, as the montage of her season 12 performance is shown. Her swan song is Never Gone.

Though the official renewal of the show has not been confirmed yet, the release of the dates in Summer show that the 13th season of the show will go on.

The website of American Idol confirmed that the audition will start on July 16 in San Francisco and then move on to Detroit, Atlanta, Boston, Austin and Omaha.

Those who are unable to attend the open auditions can try the online version after the final episode next week.

Randy Jackson, a judge on the show said that he will not appear in the next season and said that he was proud of having changed television and the music world.

There have been widespread rumors of a total revamp of the judges’ panel in the future seasons of the show.

The first song each for each of the contestants was chosen by Jimmy Lovine. He picked “Perfect” by Pink for Kree Harrison. Candice Glover was asked to sing “One” by U2. And Angie Miller got an opportunity to show what she was made of with Sir Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word.” Angie gave the best performance in this round by a long shot and the judges were unanimous in their decision.

The second round had the judges pick a song for each of the contestants. Candice was asked to sing “Next To Me” by Emeli Sande. Angie had to sing “Try” by Pink and Harrison was asked to show off her vocals with “Here Comes Goodbye” by the Rascal Flatts. Once again, Angie was by far the pick of the lot and proved that she can sing even without playing the piano. But Kree’s performance left very little to the imagination and hit all the right notes with the judges. Maybe that’s why they awarded her the second round by a whisker.

The final round was an Idol Production Choice round where Angie took on “Maybe” by Emeli Sande, Candice sang “Somewhere” by the West Side Story and Kree sang “Better Dig Two” by the Band Perry. This was when Candice showed everyone what she was made of and why there was no chance she was going to be eliminated this week. She even got a talented artist like Mariah Carey to get on her feet and applaud her performance. Nicki Minaj even went as far as telling her that they were going to see her next week. Randy even told her that she was now the proud owner of two of the best ever performances on the show.

Even though Kree Harrison is quite likable, it’s most likely that she is the one going home next week. This would leave Candice Glover and Angie Miller as the two finalists for the twelfth season of American Idol. Even though Candice seemed like she was losing her way in the last few weeks, this week just proved that no matter who wins, all of these girls are going to have wonderful careers after the show. Now it’s just a matter of who gives a better performance on the night.

Angie Miller took up Rihanna’s Diamonds with the piano. The performance was good except for some screechy notes in the chorus. Keith liked the song, but was not happy with Angie’s order. Nicki thought the piano show was different, while Randy felt the song was flat and Mariah thought that it was a big risk which did not go well.

Amber Holcomb sang Just Give Me A reason. Nicki noticed her stiff performance, which was different from her relaxed attitude. Randy thought that it was not up to par. Mariah praised her aptitude in learning the song quickly, while Keith thought she lacked experience.

Candice Glover sang When I Was Your Man. Randy thought she was amazing, Mariah believed that she made the song magical, while Keith said that it was a winning performance. Nicki wanted a standing ovation and the judges gave her one.

Kree Harrison sang Carrie Underwood’s See You Again. Maria loved the song; Keith was not connected to the song while Nicki loved the song. Randy loved the tone.

In the second round, Angie Miller took up Someone To Watch Over Me. She did a wonderful performance. Keith liked the rendition, while Nicki liked this better than her earlier one. Randy also thought that the song was ancient and did not like the order. Mariah wanted her to sing from her heart.

Amber Holcomb sang My Funny Valentine. Nicki liked the song, while Randy thought that she gave courage to people undecided about their musical future and Mariah liked the spirit of the song. Keith was quick to point the lack of support from the audience side.

Candice Glover took up You’ve Changed by Billie Holiday. Randy liked it, while Mariah too expressed the same. Keith and Nicki too did not have any comments to add and liked the show.

Kree Harrison sang Stormy Weather of Lena Horne. Mariah did not like the song selection; Keith also thought the same, while Randy suggested a change of song too. They all agreed that she should be herself.

With the twelfth season of American Idol comes to a close, the effects of the competition and its toll on the girls showed clearly. Kree Harrison and Amber Holcomb seemed to be the most affected and both looked tired and worn out.

The producers of the show also did not help them as they had the girls singing old dull numbers. Candice is the only one who seems to have made even the old classics look fresh.
