American Idol fans have been eagerly anticipating the confirmation on who will be taking over the seat of Ellen Degeneres as American Idol judge. The rumor mill has been abuzz lately that Jennifer Lopez has signed the contract to be the next judge but it turns out that it was just a rumor. Steven Tyler another celebrity also rumored to be a candidate for the vacant judge’s seat has told the press that there is a big possibility that he will be the next judge. As of the moment, he has not signed a contract yet but if he does then it won’t come as a surprise.

There are also rumors that if Steven Tyler decides to drop the judging stint altogether then Harry Connick Jr. will be the next choice. Between the two, Steven Tyler is absolutely the better choice without a doubt.

Season 10 of American Idol has yet to start but the rumor mill has not stopped buzzing with all kinds of news about the show. Some say that Kara DioGuardi is being booted out of the show and that Nigel Lythgoe is making a comeback as executive producer. Rumor also has it that Ellen Degeneres is resigning from the show and with that news a long list of celebrities has been mentioned as a replacement.

All the brouhaha about the next American Idol judge seems to take the attention away from the real stars of the show and they are not the judges. Anybody can take the judge’s seat but what is important is the talent of the contestant standing in front of them. It is a singing contest after all and not a judging contest.
